The fact is that the majority of the mifid scam involves the scammer contacting a person that they own a home with and then asking that person to buy a house in the same town they are located in. I think that is kind of an unfair way to find someone that might want to sell their home (even though they are technically not allowed to buy one).

The other problem that this regulation causes is the fact that many of the scammer’s clients are already in the process of buying houses and then getting stuck with fees to pay for the mortgage to buy their house. Not to mention that they then end up having to pay for their house to be advertised with them. It is not only unfair but it is also expensive.

This is very true. Even if there is a regulation that says a home can’t be sold to anyone but the owner of the home (which the Department of Real Estate says it doesn’t have the authority to enforce), it can still cost a lot of cash. The first step to fixing this is to figure out the fee that is being asked for. These fees are usually based on the number of days the house is under contract.
