While I love meeting new people, most people I work with are extremely busy and don’t get to see as much of the world. I’ve worked with a bunch of different people to make sure they got what they came for.
I’m a firm believer that everyone can change things, no matter how small or large they think they can be. I met the guy who owns the video shop I used to work at and he was a person who took his time to talk to me about ideas and he genuinely wanted to do something good with his life. He has worked in the film industry for a long time and is able to help others make it in the very industry that he loves.
It’s a huge deal for people to work with a filmmaker like that. These people are the best in the business. They have incredible talent and they can get you your first job, but if you don’t have the right connections, they’ll turn their back on you because they don’t want to be part of a “dead pool” of talent. This producer is a really bright guy, he knew all about how film production works, and he offered to help me with my writing by giving me advice. I was very impressed with his knowledge and advice too.
The thing is, film producers are a lot of people who really aren’t looking to make a lot of money. They’re looking to make a few hundred thousand dollars a year out of the production of some big blockbuster movie. They’re not necessarily looking to be a film exec or a TV personality – they’re more like an actor or a model.
