I’m an elastic certified engineer. My name is Josh and I work full time in construction. I previously worked for a construction management company, but as projects and my wife are now more than full time, I am now working for myself.
I have a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and have also completed a certificate in building and construction management from Iowa State University. I recently took a course at the University of Stirling on my skills as an engineer and I have done a lot of research into my past work with construction.
My background in engineering, and specifically in mechanical engineering, has made me one of the best and most respected engineers in the construction industry. I have great respect for the many engineers that are employed by the construction industry but as my experience with construction management and engineering have increased, I have found the work to be very rewarding.
One of the biggest things that I’ve noticed with my engineering career is the fact that most of the things engineers are good at are not the things they should be good at. In engineering, if you’re good at one thing you can be great at everything else. As long as you’re good at a lot of things you can be even better.
In general construction managers do a good job of this, but there have been several times when Ive discovered to my chagrin that engineers are far less skilled at this than I thought. This usually comes from a combination of the fact that most of them have very little experience or education and just plain being lazy.

One problem engineers have is that they don’t always know what they don’t know. There’s a small chance that you’ll find out your way around a project, but if you don’t, you’ll end up with a job you don’t understand. And if you don’t know what you don’t know, you’re going to miss things that you thought you knew.
And it isn’t just engineers, we get it. The way we learn is by doing. If you’re reading this on a college campus and you’re in a class that has a lot of questions, you’re going to miss the point of the class. In engineering classes, you’re going to have a lot more time to talk to your engineer.
This is why I love to do projects. Not just for the learning, but the actual “doing” is great. It lets me be me, not just an engineer. By doing things that I don’t understand, I can show people what I don’t know. Because if I see that someone else is doing it, I can show them what I’m doing as well.
There’s nothing like the feeling that you have something you know is correct, but you cant actually prove it. You can prove that it works, but you cant prove that it works. This is why I love to do projects.
