I’ve given a good example of how you can use your team coaching techniques to get kids involved in team building. The key is to work with your team in a professional way, and not to force someone to go through the motions in order to get them to be that person. Let’s take a look at this example.
A couple of years ago, I worked as a coach for a team of 7-8 guys. They all were really talented athletes, but they were all extremely immature and didn’t have a lot of life experience. They were new to team building and I thought it would be a waste of time to coach them because they were too immature for coaching. In the end, I had to stop coaching them because I didn’t have enough information to teach them.
In my opinion this was totally right. I am sure that there are many coaches who are terrible coaches and they are also the ones who are the most immature. When trying to teach something to someone, if you have enough information to teach them, and you can do a good job of it, you shouldnt have to stop to learn something new. When youre teaching anything new to a person, you shouldnt stop to look for the next thing in training them.
I think you are right about that. There are always two things going on at the same time, and it takes a lot of learning and experience to be able to teach effectively. As you say, I guess I was pretty bad at teaching. My point is that the coaches I interviewed for this were amazing and extremely good at what they were doing. It is rare to find a coach who can teach effectively without having to stop and look for the next thing in training their students.
A lot of the coaches I interviewed for this were people I don’t know, and that was a real shame. They were incredibly cool and extremely knowledgeable people that were capable of doing the work they were supposed to do. They were not just being nice, they were being intelligent and smart, and they were definitely helping to train the students to be more productive.
The main reason to hire a coach is that it is a very personal thing to do, so you really don’t have to do anything with it. This is true in general, but it is important to keep in mind that you don’t have to hire a coach because if you do hire a coach, you do not need to know the coach personally.
In our own experience, coaches are more often than not a good source of motivation and advice. A coach can look at a student’s work and see what you need to help improve it. For example, if you are a teacher who has a class load of 100 students, the coach can look at what you need to do to give each student the same attention and help each student.
If you are a coach, you can use the same logic. Instead of looking at a student, the coach can look at you. In this case, the coach can look at your own behavior to see what you need to work on. This is the same idea we use with our own students at work to help them stay motivated.
In agile coaching, we have some of the same concepts as in our self-awareness training. For example, if we use a coach to help us improve our practice, we can use that same logic. Instead of looking at our own behavior to help us improve we can look at our coach to see what we need to do to help each student.
